FDFP Monitor Mode Expansion Setting

The section describes FDFP Monitor mode expansion setting.

Select FDFP monitor button in solver tab to create FDFP monitor in Composite Viewer, and set Mode expansion tab in popped-up editing window.

Enable Mode Expansion

To use FDFP monitor mode expansion module, check Enable mode expansion tab to enable this module.

Name Description
Enable mode expansion Check this tab to enable mode expansion.
Multi-frequency field Allow solving mode distributions at multiple frequency points. It is recommended to check this tab in broadband simulation projects.
Frequency points Specify how many frequency points are used to calculate mode distribution. Increasing frequency points will increase simulation time. It is recommended to set fewer frequency points in initial check of simulation.

Rotation

Select Mode

Data Visualizer

Result data returned by FDFP monitor mode expansion includes:

Sourcepower Relation between source power and frequency/wavelength.
E Relation between electric field and frequency/wavelength.
H Relation between magnetic field and frequency/wavelength.
P Relation between Poynting vector and frequency/wavelength.
Power Relation between power and frequency/wavelength.
T Relation between transmissivity and frequency/wavelength.

Name Description
N Power of mode.
A_forward Complex transmission coefficient of forward propagating mode.
A_backward Complex transmission coefficient of backward propagating mode.
T_forward Transmission power from input port to output port.
T_backward Transmission power from output port to input port.
